This document is provided as a template and should be reviewed by legal counsel before use.

1. What We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information — name, email address, and Google profile data used for authentication.
  • Household data — household name, configuration, meal preferences, chore schedules, grocery lists, maintenance tasks, bills, activities, and other household management information you enter.
  • Family member information — names, family roles, dietary preferences, allergies, and food preferences for all household members. For children, this may include birth dates and ages as entered by parents or guardians.
  • Medical and dietary information — allergies, dietary restrictions, and medical notes you choose to store in the app.
  • Usage data — how you interact with the Service, feature usage, API call counts, and error logs to help us improve the product.

2. How We Use It

  • Provide the Service — your data powers meal planning, chore scheduling, grocery lists, and all other features you use.
  • AI processing — household data (preferences, dietary info, schedules) is sent to our AI provider to generate meal plans, suggestions, and recommendations. Data sent to AI is used only for your request and is not used to train AI models.
  • Analytics and improvement — aggregate, anonymized usage patterns help us understand which features are valuable and where to improve.
  • Communications — we use your email to send morning briefings, weekly digests, and service notifications you have opted into.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate re:load:

  • Stripe — processes subscription payments. Stripe receives your payment information directly; we do not store credit card numbers. See Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes household data to generate meal plans, chore suggestions, and recommendations. Data is sent per-request and is subject to Anthropic's privacy policy.
  • Google — provides authentication (Google Sign-In) and optional calendar integration. Only connected if you choose to link your Google Calendar.
  • Kroger — optional grocery integration for product matching and pricing. Only activated if you connect your Kroger account.
  • Neon (PostgreSQL) — hosts our database in the US-East-1 region on AWS infrastructure.
  • Cloudflare — provides CDN, DDoS protection, and DNS services. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
  • Google Cloud Run — hosts the application infrastructure.

4. Children's Privacy

re:load allows parents and guardians to store information about their children (names, ages, birth dates, dietary preferences) as part of household management. This information is entered and managed entirely by the parent or guardian — we do not collect information directly from children.

Children do not have their own accounts. All children's data is stored under the parent or guardian's household account and is subject to the same protections as all other household data. Parents and guardians may update or delete their children's information at any time.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon in the US-East-1 region (AWS). All data is encrypted in transit using TLS. We use secure, httpOnly session cookies for authentication.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and household contributions will be removed. Some anonymized, aggregate data may be retained for analytics purposes.

If your household is deleted by the administrator, all associated household data is permanently removed.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data — view all information stored in your account through the app.
  • Export your data — request a copy of your data by emailing us.
  • Delete your data — delete your account from the Settings page, which removes your personal data.
  • Correct your data — update your information at any time through the app.

To exercise any of these rights, you can use the app directly or contact us at support@reloadapp.ai.

8. Cookies

re:load uses a single session cookie (httpOnly, secure) to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. No cookie banner is needed because we only use cookies strictly necessary for the Service to function.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via email. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.

10. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, contact us at support@reloadapp.ai.
